Getting started

Create your Kit Pay account

How to sign up for Kit Pay in the mobile app with your phone number, and what to prepare before you start.

Kit Pay accounts are created inside the mobile app — there is no signup on this website, and no one can open an account for you over the phone or by email. If anyone offers to register you from outside the app, treat it as a scam and walk away.

Before you start

  • A phone that runs the official Kit Pay app — see how to get the app.
  • The SIM card for the phone number you want to register, in the same phone, so you can receive the verification code.
  • A quiet moment to choose a wallet PIN only you know. It is one of the ways you approve payments, so it deserves thought.

Creating the account

  1. Install the official app, open it, and choose to create an account.
  2. Enter your phone number. Kit Pay sends a one-time code by SMS to prove the number is yours — type it in when it arrives.
  3. Fill in your name as you want other Kit Pay users to see it when they pay you or chat with you.
  4. Set your wallet PIN. Pick one that is not your birth year, not repeated digits, and not a PIN you already use elsewhere.
  5. Finish the setup screens. The app then shows your wallet, ready to receive money.

Your phone number carries real weight on Kit Pay: it is how friends find you and where SMS security codes are sent. Registering a number that belongs to someone else, or one you are about to give up, can lock you out of your own money later. If you change numbers down the road, read switching to a new phone first.

If signup does not complete

The usual culprits are an SMS that has not arrived yet, a number typed with the wrong prefix, or a weak connection. Wait a short while for the code, check the number carefully, and move somewhere with better signal before trying again. Verifying your phone number covers the details.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sign up on the Kit Pay website?

No. Accounts are created only in the mobile app. The website explains the product and hosts this help centre.

Do I need an email address?

The app guides you through exactly what it needs. Signup is built around verifying your phone number, and accounts can also have an email for signing in.

Can someone at Kit Pay register me?

No. Only you should create your account, on your own phone, and no genuine staff member will ever ask for your PIN or codes.
