Wallet limits and restrictions

Why limits exist on payment systems, how Kit Pay tells you when one applies, and what to do when you hit one.

Every serious payment system has limits, and the honest ones admit it. Limits are how a system caps the damage of the worst day — a stolen phone, a coerced owner, a compromised account — to something survivable. Kit Pay is built on the same principle: when the system cannot be sure an action is safe, it prefers to stop rather than hope.

The kinds of limits you may meet

  • Amount and frequency boundaries on payments, which keep any single mistake or theft bounded.
  • Requirements that unlock with account maturity — for example, services that will need identity verification once it arrives.
  • Temporary holds when something about an action looks unlike you, giving the security checks time to be sure.

This page deliberately quotes no figures. Specific limits depend on your account and can change as services evolve; a number printed here would eventually be a lie somewhere. The app is the honest source — where a limit applies to something you are doing, the app tells you at the moment it matters, before you confirm.

When you hit one

  1. Read the message in the app — it states what stopped the action.
  2. If it is an amount boundary, consider whether the payment can be structured differently, such as agreeing a plan with the other person.
  3. If the app points to a requirement, complete it when it becomes available to your account.
  4. If nothing explains it, ask through Help in the app. Your authenticated session ties the question to your account, which is what an investigation needs.

Limits are not accusations

Meeting a limit does not mean you are suspected of anything — it means the system is doing for you what it does for everyone, including the person a thief is pretending to be. A wallet that would let anyone move everything, instantly, always, is not a convenience; it is a target. For the rarer case where a wallet itself is restricted, see closed or restricted wallets.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly are the limits on my account?

The app tells you when a limit applies to an action you are taking. Published numbers would go stale, so the app itself is the source of truth.

Can I ask for a limit to be raised?

Where that is possible it happens through the app — either a requirement you can complete or a conversation through Help. No one can sell you a raised limit.
