Identity verification: what is coming

Some payment services are regulated in ways that require knowing who an account belongs to — properly, not just by phone number. Kit Pay is preparing a guided identity verification step inside the app so that accounts are ready for those services before they switch on. It is not available yet; this article exists so that when the app invites you, nothing about it is a surprise.

Why verification exists at all

Verification protects in two directions. It protects the system from accounts pretending to be people they are not — the raw material of fraud and laundering. And it protects you: an account anchored to your real identity is far harder for a stranger to claim, dispute, or quietly take over. Rails like mobile money and bank transfers are exactly where that anchoring matters most, which is why verification is being prepared ahead of them.

What to expect from the flow

• It happens inside the Kit Pay app, as a guided step — never on a website, never through a link someone sends you.
• The app announces it when it applies to your account. You do not need to request it, queue for it, or pay anyone to be verified.
• Until it reaches you, there is nothing to prepare beyond having your official identity document somewhere you can find it.

Verification and your privacy

Identity details exist to satisfy specific legal and security purposes, not to follow you around the product. Support conversations, for example, are designed so that staff work from what you tell them — your authenticated session establishes which account is asking without exposing your documents to whoever answers. The privacy policy is the authoritative description of how personal data is handled.
