Wallet & balance

Closed or restricted wallets

What it means when a wallet is restricted or closed, why systems fail closed, and the honest path to resolution.

Rarely, a wallet is restricted — some or all actions paused — or closed entirely. It is unsettling to meet and important to understand: restriction is the system's way of stopping while something is resolved, because with money, stopping wrongly is recoverable and continuing wrongly is not.

Why restrictions happen

  • Security: signals suggest the account may not be in its owner's hands, so movements pause while that is established.
  • Integrity: activity tied to reported fraud or abuse is held so an investigation sees a still picture, not a moving one.
  • Obligations: like every payment service, Kit Pay operates under legal duties that can require holding or reviewing activity.
  • Your own request: closing your account restricts the wallet as part of the process, described on the account deletion page.

Notice what is common: in each case the restriction protects the rightful owner's money from the worst outcome available at that moment. Fail closed is a promise, and this is what it looks like when kept.

What restriction does not mean

A restriction is not a verdict and not a confiscation. Your history remains intact — ledger records do not evaporate — and the balance remains recorded to you while the situation is worked through. It also does not mean guilt: owners of targeted accounts see restrictions precisely because the system is defending them.

The honest path through

  1. Read what the app tells you — where a next step exists, the app states it.
  2. Respond through Help in the app, from your signed-in session. That is the only channel where account matters are handled.
  3. Provide what is asked, once, accurately. Repetition and volume do not speed reviews; completeness does.
  4. Be patient with deliberateness. The same care that slows your case is what stops a thief mid-story on someone else's.

Frequently asked questions

Is my money gone while the wallet is restricted?

No. The ledger keeps your balance and history intact; a restriction pauses actions while the situation is resolved.

Can I open a second account to keep moving money meanwhile?

Working around a restriction undermines the resolution of the first account and can worsen the outcome. The path through is the in-app one.
