Kit Pay wallets are held in Ugandan shillings — the currency of the prices around you, the fares you pay, and the change in your pocket. One wallet, one currency, no conversion arithmetic hiding inside your balance.

Why a single currency is a feature

When every balance, transfer, and history entry is in shillings, the numbers you see are the numbers that happened. Nothing in your history needs a footnote about what rate applied that day, and two people looking at the two sides of one payment see the same figure. For everyday money between people in Uganda, that clarity beats flexibility.

Money that starts somewhere else

Plenty of Ugandan life is funded from outside — family abroad, clients paying in other currencies. Kit Pay does not itself change foreign money into shillings: whatever route brings value into Uganda for you today continues to do its job, and once it becomes shillings that can reach a Kit Pay wallet, it moves like any other balance. Shilling habits worth keeping

• Think in round, memorable amounts when you send — a tidy number is easier to verify at a glance on the review screen.
• Use payment notes to record what a price was for; the amount alone will not explain itself in six months.
• When someone quotes you in another currency, agree the shilling figure before you pay. The wallet records shillings; so should the agreement.

However the money arrives, the wallet's rules do not change: the balance is the sum of its history, and nothing leaves without your approval, tied to the action, using your wallet PIN or supported device security.
