What is Kit Pay?

Kit Pay is a mobile app built in Uganda that puts your money and your conversations side by side. You hold a wallet in Ugandan shillings, send and receive money with other Kit Pay users, and — as the rollout completes — chat with the same people you pay, so the payment and the conversation about it stay together.

What you can do today

• Send money to another Kit Pay user and see the confirmation in the app.
• Request money for the exact amount you are owed, and let the other person approve it in their own app.
• Share a payment link that opens a ready-to-pay screen for eligible Kit Pay users.
• Set a payment for later, or a repeating plan you can pause, resume, or cancel.
• Get paid as a business with a merchant account and signed QR codes.

Some features arrive in stages. Private chat and calls activate per device as the encryption rollout completes, and rails like mobile money, bank deposits, and airtime are announced in the app before they switch on for your account. The app itself is always the honest source: it only shows what your account can actually use. The homepage keeps a current summary of what is live and what is on the way.

How Kit Pay treats your money

Every movement of money is recorded on a double-entry ledger — each completed transaction leaves matching entries on both sides, added to the record rather than edited. Sensitive money actions require approval tied to what you are doing, using your wallet PIN or supported device security, so nothing leaves your wallet silently.

Where to start

Everything begins in the mobile app — there is no web signup and no web wallet. Get the app, create your account with your phone number, and set the wallet PIN you will use to approve payments. From there, the help centre walks you through your first payment and everything after it.
