Bank deposits: how they will work

The coming bank top-up flow: your personal deposit reference, verified proof of payment, and matching to your wallet.

Bank deposits are being built so that money you pay in at a Ugandan bank finds its own way to your Kit Pay wallet — no phone calls, no screenshots sent to strangers, no waiting for a person to believe you. Two pieces make that work: a deposit reference that identifies the money as yours, and verified proof of payment that confirms the deposit is real.

The flow being built

  1. In the app, you start a bank deposit and receive your personal deposit reference.
  2. You pay at the bank as you normally would, putting that reference on the deposit.
  3. You capture the proof of payment in the app, which verifies it.
  4. The verified deposit is matched to your wallet by the reference, and the money appears in your history like any other entry.

Why a reference, why proof

A bank sees thousands of deposits that all look like money; the reference is the thread that ties one of them to your wallet, so matching does not depend on names being spelled consistently or a clerk's memory. Proof of payment closes the other half: it verifies against the real document that the deposit happened as claimed, so wallets are credited from evidence rather than promises. Fail-closed runs through the whole design — a deposit that cannot be confidently matched and verified waits for resolution instead of guessing which wallet to credit.

Preparing for the day it opens

  • Keep bank slips and receipts as a habit already — keeping deposit records shows the light version.
  • Be suspicious of anyone offering early access or deposit services before the app itself announces the rail. That offer is always a scam.
  • When it opens, read what the app says about your first deposit carefully; the in-app instructions for your account are the authoritative version of this page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send money to some bank account for Kit Pay today?

No. Until the app itself offers bank deposits, no bank account legitimately collects Kit Pay top-ups — anyone giving you one is stealing.

What happens if I forget the reference on a deposit once the rail is live?

The design holds unmatched deposits for resolution rather than guessing, and proof of payment exists exactly to untangle such cases. The app will guide you.
