Why Kit Pay signs you out sometimes

Being asked to sign in again when you did nothing wrong feels like an accusation. It is usually the opposite: a payment app that never questions an old session is a payment app that trusts whoever is holding the phone — forever. Sessions that end are part of how Kit Pay keeps the person in the account and the owner of the account the same person.

Common, harmless reasons

• The session simply aged out. Long-idle sessions are quietly retired rather than left as open doors.
• You or someone on your account revoked it from the sessions list — including you, last month, tidying up.
• You signed in elsewhere in a way that made the old session stale.
• The app was updated or reinstalled, and the fresh install starts with a fresh sign-in.
• Some security-sensitive changes on an account can ask devices to prove themselves again.

The protective reasons

Sometimes a sign-out is the system acting on suspicion — behaviour that looked unlike you, or a risk signal worth being careful about. When that happens, the inconvenience is the protection: whoever holds the session, rightful or not, is stopped and asked to prove control of the number again. For the owner that is a minute of typing; for an intruder it is a wall.

Getting back in, calmly

1. Open the app and sign in with your phone number, confirming the one-time code sent to your SIM.
2. Once in, glance at your sessions — if something unfamiliar is listed, sign it out.
3. If sign-outs repeat and you cannot see why, describe it through Help in the app so it can be looked at properly.

One caution: a sign-out is only real if the app itself asks you to sign in. A message or call claiming you were signed out and offering a link to restore access is the fake version — phishing and fake messages shows how that trick dresses up.
