Mobile money Coming soon

Airtel Money and Kit Pay

The coming Airtel Money rail: moving value between your Kit Pay wallet and Airtel, and the boundary between the systems.

Airtel Money is the other half of Ugandan mobile money, and Kit Pay is building its rail alongside MTN's: moving money between your Kit Pay wallet and Airtel Money, both directions, so Airtel-side value and wallet value stop being separate worlds.

What it unlocks

  • Top up your wallet from your Airtel Money balance.
  • Move wallet money to Airtel Money, and to cash through Airtel's agent network.
  • Pay and be paid across the boundary — Airtel-side friends and customers stop being unreachable.

Two systems, one bridge

Your Airtel Money account remains its own thing — its balance, its PIN, its rules, governed by Airtel. Kit Pay never asks for your Airtel Money PIN, and your wallet keeps its own separate protections. The rail is a bridge between two sovereign systems, not a merger; that separation is worth understanding before the traffic starts, and wallet vs mobile money lays it out.

Each direction of movement will be a sensitive money action with the usual protections: approval tied to what you are doing, using your wallet PIN or supported device security, the complete charge shown before you confirm, and a ledger entry in your history.

While the rail is being proven

The same three warnings as every unopened rail. Only your own app defines availability — why mobile money arrives in stages explains the deliberate pace. Nobody legitimately offers early access, bridging services, or "Airtel–Kit Pay agents" the app does not show. And no PIN of yours — wallet or Airtel — is ever the answer to anyone's question.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move money between Airtel Money and Kit Pay today?

Not yet — the rail is coming soon. Your own app is the honest source: when the rail is genuinely open for your account, it appears there.

Does using Kit Pay require an Airtel or MTN line?

No. Kit Pay works on any phone number today. The mobile money rails will add bridges to those systems for people who use them, not a requirement to.
