Add your first contact

Kit Pay is built around people you already know, so the first thing to do after setup is find one of them. Because Kit Pay matches people by phone number, the person in your phone book and the person in the app are the same person — no usernames to guess, no handles to mistype.

Letting Kit Pay match your contacts

If you allow contact access, the app shares the contacts you chose — all of them or a selection — and Kit Pay keeps an encrypted copy of those entries so it can show you who is on Kit Pay and keep names current between syncs. Numbers in that copy are stored encrypted, it exists to run contact matching for you, and the privacy policy governs how it is handled. Contact sync and privacy covers exactly what is shared and how to say no.

Prefer not to share contacts at all? You can still reach someone directly by entering their phone number when you send or request money. Sync is a convenience, not a requirement.

Checking you have the right person

• Look at the name and number the app shows before you confirm anything — the review screen exists exactly for this.
• If a friend has a new number, update your phone book first so you are not paying their old SIM.
• When in doubt, send a payment request instead of a payment: the other person has to approve it in their own app, which confirms who they are.

From contact to payment
